Construmat, el Salón Internacional de la Construcción de Fira de Barcelona, pone en marcha la 21º edición de los Premios Construmat, que reconocerán las mejores obras actuales de arquitectura sostenible y saludable. Comisariados por la Fundació Mies van de Rohe, estos galardones de repercusión internacional destacarán edificios proyectados para minimizar el impacto ambiental y para aumentar el bienestar y la calidad de vida de las personas usuarias.

Creados en 1985 con carácter bienal, los Premios Construmat distinguen la excelencia de obras y proyectos de arquitectura e ingeniería de todo el mundo basados en una construcción respetuosa con el medio ambiente, en línea con la transformación sostenible del sector que propone la feria barcelonesa. Los galardones también reconocen la transversalidad de los servicios profesionales, la innovación de los sistemas constructivos y el uso de nuevos materiales. Para su organización, los Premios Construmat cuentan nuevamente con la colaboración de la Fundació Mies van de Rohe, institución de prestigio internacional en la investigación, el debate y la divulgación de la cultura arquitectónica.

Las obras que optan a los Premios Construmat son nominadas por un comité experto formado por cinco personas, representantes de instituciones, medios y entidades tanto españolas como internacionales, vinculadas al fomento de la sostenibilidad en la arquitectura. En la edición de 2025, integran este comité la Agrupació d’Arquitectura i Sostenibilitat del Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (AuS-COAC), la Asociación Sostenibilidad y Arquitectura (ASA), el Green Building Council España (GBCe), el centro investigador alemán Bauhaus-Earth y la revista francesa L’Architecture d’Aujord’hui (‘A’A’).

Proyectos responsables

Este comité experto tiene el encargo de seleccionar entre 15 y 20 obras nacionales e internacionales finalizadas entre 2020 y 2024 que destaquen por su doble enfoque en la sostenibilidad medioambiental y, como novedad este año, en la arquitectura saludable. Entre los criterios sostenibles que se evaluarán figuran, entre otros, la adaptación del edificio al entorno, el uso de materiales respetuosos, reciclables y locales, y la implementación de soluciones de eficiencia energética como el diseño pasivo y la descarbonización.

En cuanto a la arquitectura saludable, se priorizará el bienestar físico, mental y emocional de las personas que habitan estos edificios, mediante el control del confort ambiental, la calidad del aire, la iluminación, la acústica y la ventilación. También se valorará la funcionalidad y flexibilidad del espacio, la accesibilidad y la conexión con la naturaleza, promoviendo la integración con el entorno.

Reconocimiento internacional

Posteriormente, un jurado, formado por tres miembros de reconocida trayectoria profesional y/o académica en el ámbito de la arquitectura sostenible y saludable, será quien seleccione la obra ganadora de los Premios Construmat 2025 entre el listado de nominaciones propuesto por el comité experto. Paralelamente, se concederá el Premio Construmat del Público mediante votación popular.

La ceremonia de los Premios Construmat tendrá lugar el próximo, 21 de mayo en el marco de las actividades del Salón Internacional de la Construcción de Fira de Barcelona. El acto incluirá la entrega de diplomas, la presentación de los proyectos nominados y un debate con la participación del comité experto, el jurado y los equipos profesionales e industriales vinculados a las obras ganadoras. Asimismo, del 20 al 22 de mayo –días de celebración de la feria–, se podrá visitar la exposición del conjunto de obras nominadas y ganadoras en el pabellón 2 del recinto ferial de Gran Via. En esta ocasión, estos galardones cuentan con el patrocinio de Würth España.

Sobre Construmat 2025

Los Premios Construmat son reconocidos en el ámbito profesional como uno de los más importantes galardones del sector de la construcción. Desde hace más de 40 años, son una de las iniciativas más destacadas de Construmat, el Salón Internacional de la Construcción que organiza Fira de Barcelona. El evento, que se celebrará del 20 al 22 de mayo en el recinto ferial de Gran Via, reunirá 350 expositores de 22 países convirtiéndose en un gran escaparate de tecnologías, sistemas y materiales constructivos, así como un foro de conocimiento y reflexión para avanzar hacia un modelo de edificación más innovador, sostenible y responsable.

The International Construction Trade Show, organized by Fira de Barcelona, is launching the 21st edition of the Construmat Awards, which will recognize the best contemporary works in sustainable and healthy architecture. Curated by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, these internationally renowned awards will showcase buildings designed to minimize environmental impact while enhancing the well-being and quality of life of their users.

The Construmat Awards, first established in 1985 as a biennial event, celebrate excellence in architecture and engineering projects worldwide. These awards prioritize environmentally responsible construction, aligning with the sustainable transformation of the sector. This focus is in keeping with the vision promoted by the prestigious Barcelona-based trade fair. The awards also acknowledge the cross-disciplinary nature of professional services, innovations in construction systems, and the use of new materials.

For the 2025 edition, the Construmat Awards once again count on the collaboration of the Fundació Mies van der Rohe , a globally recognized institution dedicated to research, debate, and the promotion of architectural culture.

A Panel of Experts to Select Nominees

Projects eligible for the Construmat Awards are nominated by an expert panel consisting of five professionals representing Spanish and international institutions, media outlets, and organizations that promote sustainability in architecture. For the 2025 edition, the panel includes representatives from the Sustainable Architecture Group of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (AuS-COAC), the Sustainability and Architecture Association (ASA), the Green Building Council España (GBCe), the German research center Bauhaus-Earth, and the French magazine L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui (‘A’A’).

Responsible Projects

This expert panel is tasked with selecting between 15 and 20 outstanding national and international projects completed between 2020 and 2024, with a dual focus on environmental sustainability and, for the first time this year, healthy architecture.

Among the sustainability criteria evaluated are the building’s integration with its surroundings, the use of environmentally friendly, recyclable, and locally sourced materials, and the implementation of energy-efficient solutions such as passive design and decarbonization strategies.

In terms of healthy architecture, priority will be given to projects that enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of their occupants through environmental comfort, air quality, lighting, acoustics, and ventilation. Other key aspects include spatial functionality and flexibility, accessibility, and a strong connection to nature, promoting seamless integration with the environment.

International Recognition

Following the nomination process, a jury of three highly respected professionals from the fields of sustainable and healthy architecture will select the winning project from the expert panel’s shortlist. In addition, the Construmat Public Award will be granted through a public vote.

The Construmat Awards 2025 ceremony will take place on May 21 as part of the activities at the International Construction Trade Show, organized by Fira de Barcelona. The event will feature the presentation of diplomas, the official announcement of nominated projects, and a discussion with members of the expert panel, the jury, and professionals and industry representatives involved in the winning projects. Furthermore, from May 20 to 22—coinciding with the trade show—visitors will have the opportunity to explore an exhibition showcasing all nominated and winning projects at Pavilion 2 of the Gran Via venue. These awards are sponsored by Würth España .
