El Instituto de Tecnología Cerámica (ITC) ha desarrollado un pavimento cerámico permeable para Sistemas Urbanos de Drenaje Sostenible (SUDS), a través del proyecto Drainker, con un demostrador instalado en el Campus de la Universitat Jaume I de Castellón.

En el proyecto se ha desarrollado y actualmente se está validando un pavimento cerámico permeable, a modo de adoquín, obtenido a partir del ensamblado de piezas cerámicas. Lo que se pretende con esta acción es «extender el uso de este tipo de pavimento, transfiriendo y difundiendo los resultados entre el conjunto de las empresas fabricantes de baldosas cerámicas, con la intención de propiciar su fabricación y utilización en espacios urbanos».

Desde el ITC, en colaboración con el Instituto de Ingeniería del Agua y Medio Ambiente (IIAMA) y la Cátedra Cerámica de Valencia (CCV) de la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), han diseñado el módulo cerámico del que se partía y se han definido unas características a partir de las cuales se llevó a cabo una primera validación a escala laboratorio del producto, tras la cual se ha procedido a la producción a escala semiindustrial de una pequeña partida de módulos cerámicos con el objetivo de instalarlos en un demostrador en un entorno relevante. Este demostrador se ha construido en las instalaciones de la Universitat Jaume I de Castellón (UJI) y actualmente se está monitorizando para validar su comportamiento tanto técnico como hidráulico.

Con el objetivo de transferir a las empresas del sector cerámico se ha programado una jornada el próximo martes 16 de julio en la que se informará con mayor detalle de los resultados obtenidos en el proyecto.

Esta iniciativa ha fructificado gracias al apoyo de la Conselleria de Innovación, Industria, Comercio y Turismo de la GVA, a través del Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad e Innovación (IVACE+i) y el Programa de Fondos Europeos FEDER Comunitat Valenciana 2021-202.

The Institute of Ceramic Technology (ITC) has developed a permeable ceramic pavement for Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), through the Drainker project, with a demonstrator installed on the Campus of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón .

In the project, a permeable ceramic pavement , similar to a cobblestone , obtained from the assembly of ceramic pieces , has been developed and is currently being validated . The aim of this action is to «extend the use of this type of pavement, transferring and disseminating the results among all ceramic tile manufacturing companies , with the intention of promoting their manufacture and use in urban spaces.»

From the ITC , in collaboration with the Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering (IIAMA) and the Ceramics Chair of Valencia (CCV) of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) , they have designed the ceramic module from which it was based and have defined some characteristics based on which a first validation of the product was carried out on a laboratory scale, after which a small batch of ceramic modules was produced on a semi-industrial scale with the aim of installing them in a demonstrator in a relevant environment . This demonstrator has been built at the facilities of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón (UJI) and is currently being monitored to validate its technical and hydraulic behavior.

With the aim of transferring companies in the ceramic sector, a conference has been scheduled next Tuesday, July 16, in which the results obtained in the project will be reported in greater detail.

This initiative has come to fruition thanks to the support of the Department of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the GVA , through the Valencian Institute of Competitiveness and Innovation (IVACE+i ) and the FEDER Comunitat Valenciana European Funds Program 2021-202.
