PortCastelló crece un 93,5% en tráfico de contenedores desde enero / Container traffic at PortCastelló up by 93,5% since january

PortCastelló crece un 93,5% en tráfico de contenedores en lo que va de año, hasta alcanzar los 9.342 de este mes de junio. Si lo comparamos con junio del pasado año, el incremento es de un 23%.
Esta evolución positiva se refleja también en el tráfico total de mercancías en el puerto de Castellón, que aumenta un 44,6% en los últimos seis meses, al pasar de 1.049.681 toneladas registradas en enero a 1.518.383 toneladas de junio. Con estos datos, el puerto de Castellón suma ya 8.667.344 toneladas en el acumulado del año.
El volumen de toneladas movidas en junio de 2024 ha sido un 5,1% mayor que el registrado en junio del 2023, un porcentaje de aumento idéntico al que se dio en mayo de este año. Por lo tanto, “los dos últimos meses ya han supuesto un claro cambio de tendencia y superan las cifras registradas durante el mismo periodo del año pasado”.
Son datos que constatan “una tendencia positiva y apuntan a una recuperación de los tráficos en PortCastelló”, ha afirmado el presidente de la Autoridad Portuaria de Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez.
Respecto al importante aumento en tráfico de contenedor, Ibáñez ha puntualizado que “los datos empiezan a apuntar a la influencia de la llegada de MSC al puerto de Castellón, así como el efecto arrastre para otras navieras que también han incrementado el tráfico de contenedor en el puerto de Castellón”.
Hay que recordar que Mediterranean Shipping Company, la primera naviera del mundo, regresó al puerto de Castellón con una conexión que le enlaza con Casablanca y su retorno abre la puerta a revertir la tendencia negativa en el movimiento de mercancía contenerizada en PortCastelló. “Con el regreso de MSC el sector cerámico tiene a la mejor naviera al lado de sus centros de producción para exportar su producto acabado”.
A cierre del mes de junio, y por tipo de mercancías, el granel líquido es el que más peso tiene en el puerto de Castellón, que representa un 50,6% sobre el total, seguido del granel sólido -que supone un 43,1%, y la mercancía general un 6,3%.
Las mercancías que más se han movido en el puerto de Castellón en lo que va de año son petróleo crudo, feldespato, gasolina, arcillas, coque, fuelóleo y cemento.
Principales países
En cuanto a los principales países con los que el puerto de Castellón mantiene relación comercial destacan, por este orden, Turquía, Angola, Marruecos, EEUU, Egipto y Kasakstan.
Rubén Ibáñez ha asegurado que el crecimiento paulatino en tráfico de mercancías es fruto del trabajo que se viene realizando en la búsqueda de nuevos mercados para la diversificación de tráficos y en la comercialización de la nueva zona de expansión en la dársena sur. De hecho, el operador logístico Servitrade y la empresa madrileña Alcohespa han apostado por este enclave para expandirse y entre ambas invertirán 20 millones de euros.
Servitrade se dedica al tráfico y almacenamiento de mercancías sólidas y líquidas, y el envasado de fertilizante. Alcohespa es una empresa especializada en almacenamiento y distribución de alcoholes etílicos.
Con estos movimientos se cierra el círculo de crecimiento de granel líquido en el puerto de Castellón. Estos dos proyectos se suman a la ampliación de BP, el traslado de la empresa Leatransa de la dársena norte a la sur y la posible futura instalación de Ignis.

This positive trend is also reflected in the total traffic of goods in the port of Castellón, which has risen by 44.6% in the last six months, from 1,049,681 tonnes recorded in January to 1,518,383 tonnes in June. These data show “a positive trend and point to a recovery of traffic in PortCastelló”, said the president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez.
With regard to the significant increase in container traffic, Ibáñez pointed out that “the data are starting to reflect the influence of the arrival of MSC in the port of Castellón, as well as the knock-on effect for other shipping lines which have also increased container traffic in the port of Castellón”.
It should be remembered that Mediterranean Shipping Company, the world’s leading shipping company, returned to the port of Castellón with a connection linking it with Casablanca, and its return paves the way for a reversal of the negative trend in the movement of container cargo in PortCastelló. “With the return of MSC, the ceramics sector has the best shipping company next to its production centres to export its finished products”.
At the end of June, by type of cargo, the main cargo in the port of Castellón was liquid bulk, with 50.6% of the total, followed by solid bulk, with 43.1%, and finally general cargo, with 6.3% of the total.
The goods representing most traffic in the port of Castellón so far this year are crude oil, feldspar, petrol, clays, coke, fuel oil and cement.
The main countries with which the port of Castellón maintains commercial relations include Turkey, Angola, Morocco, the USA, Egypt and Kazakhstan, in that order of magnitude.
Rubén Ibáñez stated that the gradual growth in goods traffic is the result of the work being carried out in the search for new markets for the diversification of traffic and in the marketing of the new expansion area in the south dock. Indeed, the logistics operator Servitrade and the Madrid-based company Alcohespa have chosen this enclave for their expansion and between them they will be investing 20 million euros.
Servitrade specialises in the traffic and storage of solid and liquid goods and the packaging of fertiliser. Alcohespa is a company specialising in the storage and distribution of ethyl alcohol.
These movements complete the liquid bulk growth in the port of Castellón. These two projects are in addition to the expansion of BP, the relocation of the company Leatransa from the north to the south dock and the possible future arrival of Ignis.
