PortCastelló rubrica el mejor mes de mayo de su historia
El puerto de Castellón sigue batiendo records: el tráfico de mercancías crece un 27,7% en mayo respecto al mismo periodo del 2015 y con ello registra el mejor mes de mayo de la historia. Así, PortCastelló ha movido durante el último mes 1.628.012 toneladas, frente a 1.274.751 del 2015. Con este dato, el crecimiento de tráfico de PortCastelló acumulado en los cinco primeros meses del año respecto al año anterior alcanza el 7,4%.
Los graneles sólidos lideran el crecimiento en mayo, con un 80%, alcanzando 522.124 toneladas frente a las 289.714 movidas durante ese periodo en 2015. Con ello se supera el récord histórico de movimiento mensual de graneles sólidos que se estableció en 2008, previo a la crisis.
Los graneles líquidos han experimentado un crecimiento del 20,5% pasando de las 644.977 toneladas de mayo de 2015 a las 777.236 toneladas en este 2016. El tráfico de mercancía general ha tenido en mayo un ligero retroceso de 11.408 toneladas, lo que supone el 3,3%, aunque hay que destacar que en el acumulado de los cinco primeros meses del año el aumento de este tipo de tráficos es del 14,4%.
El tráfico de contenedores ha retrocedido en mayo un 7,5% en número de contenedores movidos, si bien en el acumulado del año se registra un crecimiento del 5,8%. Así mismo, el crecimiento acumulado en toneladas de mercancía general en contenedor es del 12,6%.
El presidente de la Autoridad Portuaria de Castelló, Francisco Toledo, ha afirmado que “los buenos datos de tráfico registrados constatan el dinamismo de las empresas exportadoras e importadoras castellonenses así como la competitividad del puerto de Castellón gracias al compromiso y servicio eficiente que presta la Comunidad Portuaria”.

In the previous month 1.628.012 tons of goods traffic moved through the port compared to 1.274.751 in May of 2015. With this figure included, PortCastelló has seen a 7.4% growth in the first five months of this year compared to the same period last year.
Solid bulks lead the growth in May with an increase of 80% reaching 522.124 tons compared to 289.714 tons moved in the same period last year. This figure breaks the all time record for solid bulk moved in a one month period which was established in 2008 before the crisis.
Bulk liquids grew by 20.5% reaching more than 644.977 tons in May of 2015 and 777.236 tons in 2016. Traffic of general goods fell back slightly by 11.408 tons, which represents 3,3%, although it should be pointed out that over the five month period the total increase in this type of traffic is 14.4%
Container traffic went down in May 7.5% in terms of the number of containers although the total for the year shows an increase of 5.8%. Equally the accumulated total for the number of tons shipped by container is up 12,6%.
The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Francisco Toledo, stated that "the positive figures for goods traffic that have been recorded demonstrate the dynamism of the exporting and importing companies as well as the capacity of the Port of Castellón to compete with its rivals thanks to the commitment and efficient service provided by the Port Community-"
